Events in February

February is the month of winter holidays for school children, and for Zakopane – the middle of the winter season. There are many things happening in sports, there are also many cultural events, the stars of classical and popular music descend to the Tatra Mountains. Below we present a short summary of the most interesting one which can be interesting for people not speaking Polish.

Sport events

February 2 – “OSCYP”

The longest organized snowboard competition in Poland. This is an obligatory item in the calendar of all lovers of one board. Players from all over the country come to Bialka Tatrzanska to take part in the most important event of the snowboard subculture.

OSCYP from the very beginning takes place on the Kotelnica Białczańska slope in Bialka Tatrzanska. The builder of snow obstacles from the Pirates Park team every year create an interesting and challenging ground for snow competition on snowboard tricks. This year, the project foresees the emergence of one hill for performing big air tricks, as well as many obstacles to slipping on pipes and handrails (jibbing).

February 2 – Nationwide 35. Run of Gąsienica Family

(cross-country skiing)

From 10.00, Trails: Bialy Potok / Gorna Rowien Krupowa (Zakopane)

Registration can be made on the website www.mosir.zakopane.eu

or at the event office on 02.02.2019. Competition office – at the starting point, open from 8.30 to 9.30

Atma, the home of Karol Szymanowski, looks like a fairy tale house in the winter. It is worth bringing children there to music workshops.

February 3 – Mobilna Ścigacka – Downhill on anything

The fifth edition of the competition, which will take place on 3 February in Bialka Tatrzanska in the Kotelnica Bialczanska Ski Resort, between the lift no. IV and the Ski Resort Bania Ski & Fun. This year, two new categories “Highlander” and “Lowlander” will appear, which will make the competition even more fun and full of emotions.

February 9 – Zakopane Cup in Alpine Skiing – 3rd Edition

The Zakopane Cup in Alpine Skiing for Amateurs is a regular sport event organized by the city of Zakopane and the largest ski stations in Zakopane. The cup was reactivated in the winter season 2013/2014 and is very popular among skiers from Zakopane and all over Poland.

Concerts in Nosalowy Dwór are always a musical event at the highest level. During the winter holidays at Nosalowy Dwór Resort & Spa, the biggest concert hall in Podhale will be played by stars of Polish pop music.

February 8 – Festive concert “Karlowicz in memoriam”

Like every year, the Mieczyslaw Karlowicz Association in Zakopane will commemorate the prematurely deceased outstanding composer on the anniversary of his death – this year it is 110th. Excellent performers and beautiful music are already the tradition of these concerts. No one is bothered by the high temperature in the church – neither listeners who have a rare opportunity to hear in Zakopane the greatest celebrities, nor performers who are looking forward to meeting the local audience.

A place where Karlowicz died, near Maly Koscielec. Traditionally, on 7 February, there is a ski tour in the care of a guide to set a symbolic snitch.
