XLVI School Winter Sports League – Zakopane Cup for Children and Youth in Alpine Skiing – Zakopane 2024

The entire league is an invitation for children and youth to participate in sports competitions. Participants can be from elementary and high schools, divided into different age groups. Registrations are accepted until January 3, 2024, via the website www.mosir.zakopane.eu. Required information includes the name of the club/school, participant’s details, year of birth, and contact details of the legal guardian.

The entry fee is 60 PLN per person for participants from outside the Tatra County. The fee must be paid for all editions by January 4, 2024. For children and youth from the Tatra County, registering through the online panel, the fee is free. On-site registrations at the competition office are subject to a 100 PLN fee.

The competitions will take place on various dates and locations, including giant slalom events. The first day is January 7, 2024, at Harenda, then February 3, 2024, at Kasprowy Wierch, and finally, March 2, 2024, at Polana Szymoszkowa.

World Cup Ski Jumping in Zakopane 2024

Following the exciting Four Hills Tournament, ski jumping fans’ attention turns to Poland. The World Cup competitions move to Wisła, Szczyrk, and finally, to picturesque Zakopane, where jumpers will fight for valuable points at the Great Krokiew. Two competitions are planned for the weekend of January 20-21, with qualifications on Friday, January 19. Saturday will feature team events, while Sunday offers individual competition. The Polish Tournament will be decided in Zakopane, with points summed from all competitions on Polish ski jumps. Holidays with Culture at the Tatra Museum

The Tatra Museum invites you to “Holidays with Culture”, offering various educational workshops and meetings related to the culture and history of Zakopane. The first workshops, titled “The Adventures of Koziołek Matołek”, will allow children to learn about the history of this famous character and the places he visited and traveled to. In the second part of the workshops, they will have the opportunity to create a souvenir inspired by the adventures of Koziołek Matołek.

Other workshops, titled “Inhabitants of the Tatras”, will allow children to discover the secrets of Tatra nature, teaching interesting facts about the plants and animals of the region. Another workshop, “Glass Painting”, will introduce participants to the history of glass painting in Podhale and allow them to create their own glass painting.

What’s for the fans of highland traditions?

For lovers of highland traditions, workshops titled “Secrets of the Highland Cottage. Painting Treasure Chests” are offered, where participants will learn about the nooks and crannies of a 19th-century highland cottage and discover what was hidden in the chests. Additionally, the Tatra Museum offers meetings related to the history of skiing in Zakopane and art, where different aspects of life and culture of the region can be learned.

The workshops take place in various locations in Zakopane and require prior registration. Additional workshops for organized groups are also available after prior agreement on the date and topic. All children and youth are invited to participate in these fascinating and educational activities.

The “Without Pathos. Anna Buńda-Dorula – Painting on Fabric, Janusz Tycner – Graphics and Painting” exhibition is an artistic event in Zakopane, taking place at Villa Czerwony Dwór, organized by the Mayor of the City of Zakopane, Zakopane Culture Center, and Native Culture Center. XV Festival of Carols, Pastorals, and Christmas Songs

The Christmas period in Zakopane is a special time when the mountains, whether snow-covered or not, take on a magical charm. It’s then, in the churches of Zakopane, that the most beautiful Polish carols and highlander pastorals resound. The XV Festival of Carols, Pastorals, and Christmas Songs, which takes place from December 24 to February 2, attracts lovers of music and traditional culture. This is already the fifteenth edition of this unique event, which is gaining increasing interest.

The Tatra Mountains, always beautiful, add even more charm to Christmas. Beautiful carols and pastorals, flowing straight from the heart, transport us to the magical time of Christmas and the New Year period. This event, organized by the City of Zakopane and the Zakopane Parishes, aims to bring the birth of Christ closer to children and adults. The Festival of Carols, Pastorals, and Christmas Songs “Dobrze ześ sie Jezu pod Giewontem zrodziył…” allows you to hear the most beautiful Polish carols and pastorals performed by outstanding artists. The first concert traditionally took place on Christmas Eve, and the festival lasts until the Feast of Candlemas – February 2, 2024.

The Festival’s program is extremely rich and diverse. This year’s edition attracted stars of highlander and stage music, well-known regional bands, and vocalists from Podhale. Concerts are held daily in various places, allowing you to fully feel the magic of Christmas in different corners of Zakopane. Admission to all concerts is free.

What is the Festival of Carols?

The festival is not just about music, but also traditions and culture. Every year, during the event, a CD of carols recorded especially for the occasion is released. The festival also includes the celebration of the Feast of the Three Kings, during which everyone can play the role of one of the Magi and pay homage to the little Jesus.

The XV Festival of Carols, Pastorals, and Christmas Songs is an event that should be marked in everyone’s calendar, regardless of age.
