233rd Anniversary of the 3rd May Constitution

On May 3, 2024, Zakopane will host the celebration of the 233rd anniversary of the enactment of the 3rd May Constitution, one of the most important documents in Polish history. This holiday commemorates the 1791 resolution, which was the first constitution in Europe and the second in the world, initiating changes in the political system of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from an elective monarchy to a hereditary monarchy, and limiting the excessive privileges of the nobility. The event will take place in the center of Zakopane, starting at 10:30 AM and ending at 2:00 PM. The ceremony is open to all without charge and is also child-friendly. The organizer of the event is the City of Zakopane.

“Mountains of the World Through the Lens” Exhibition

The “Mountains of the World Through the Lens” exhibition, held at Kmicic Cafe in Zakopane, showcases mountain photography by Rafał Raczyński, who has accumulated over 100,000 images in his portfolio over 15 years. The exhibition features 15 photographs of mountains from around the world, including the Polish and Slovak Tatra Mountains, the Italian Dolomites, the Swiss Alps, and the South American Andes.

The opening of the exhibition is scheduled for April 6 at 6:00 PM. The exhibition can be visited until May 10, 2024, daily from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. The event is organized by the Mountain Home of Culture and Kmicic Cafe, with the honorary patronage of the Mayor of Zakopane and press sponsorship by the Podhale Weekly.

Rafał Raczyński (b. 1979) is a graduate in geophysics from the AGH University of Science and Technology. He uses his skills for meteorological research at his weather station. Raczyński has participated in expeditions to Aconcagua, Lenin Peak, Island Peak, Ama Dablam, Kilimanjaro, Elbrus, Kazbek, Mont Blanc, and Matterhorn. Having visited over 20 countries across four continents, his passion for photography, alongside mountaineering, has produced hundreds of thousands of stunning images. He is also a licensed unmanned aerial vehicle operator, capturing landscapes from a bird’s eye view. His works have been showcased at mountain festivals and published in various magazines and online portals, including the “Inspired by the Tatras” blog.

Registration for the VII Hasior Race Organized by the Tatra Museum

The VII Hasior Race is a sports and cultural event taking place on June 2, 2024, in Zakopane, promoting the work and sports career of Władysław Hasior. The competition aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and physical activity. The race starts at 9:00 AM on Przewodników Tatrzańskich Street and covers a 3 km route mainly along asphalt roads.

Registrations for the race are possible electronically until May 30, and the number of participants is limited to 300. Participants have 60 minutes to complete the course, and time measurements will be taken at the start and finish. Competitors must wear race numbers and may not move along the route with animals or on mechanical devices.

The entry fee is 50 PLN for those who pay by May 30, with preferential rates for schoolchildren and students. On the day of the competition, the fee is 70 PLN. The start package includes a T-shirt, timing chip, safety pins, and a medal upon completion.

Competitors will be classified in the open category and according to age groups, with the best receiving cash prizes. The organizer provides medical care and transports deposits to the finish. The event will take place regardless of weather conditions, and all results and decisions related to the race will be available on the organizer’s website.

“Sharp Turn Ahead” Exhibition

The “Sharp Turn Ahead” exhibition, presented from April 22 to June 3, 2024, at the Hyrny Center in Zakopane, offers unique works by contemporary artists from Zakopane, members of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. This event, an important platform for local creators, allows the public to encounter bold compositions, diverse forms, and rich color palettes that provoke reflection and inspire. The vernissage took place on April 22 at 6:00 PM in this newly established space in the Hyrny Hotel, serving as an intense dialogue between artists and spectators.

Mamma Mia

On May 2 at 8:00 PM at Hotel Nosalowy Dwór in Zakopane, the “Mamma Mia” show will be performed by artists from the Variete Muza Theater in Koszalin. The spectacle transports us back to the 70s, the era when ABBA triumphed at Eurovision.

During the performance, you will hear live hits such as “Waterloo”, “Mamma Mia”, “Super Trouper”, “Dancing Queen”, and many more. The performers, embodying the members of ABBA, captivate with their authenticity.

May Day Antique Fair

The 2024 Antique Collector’s Fair is the perfect place for lovers of unique items. It will start on May 1 at 9:00 AM and continue for five days, ending on May 5. The event will take place at Independence Square in Zakopane, with opening hours from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM each day.

March Salon 2024, Stanisław Kulon

“March Salon 2024. Stanisław Kulon” is an exciting exhibition dedicated to the Polish sculptor, open from March 26 to May 31 at the City Art Gallery named after Wł. hr. Zamoyski in Zakopane. The vernissage took place on March 23, presenting Kulon’s works reflecting his artistic journey from his challenging beginnings in the Urals, through years of creativity in Poland, to his final years in Łomianki. Curated by Lidia Rosińska-Podleśna, the exhibition includes works from Kulon’s family collection and the Łomianki Cultural Center. Spring Jazz 2024 – United Europe Jazz Festival

Spring Jazz celebrates its 20th anniversary, offering jazz enthusiasts exceptional events on International Jazz Day. The festival kicks off on March 21 with prologues, including the “Jazz Meets The Beatles” project by Anna Gąsienica Byrcyn and a concert by the Czamanova Jazz Trio. The main events start on April 30 with an inauguration by Magdalena Krzemień, followed by a performance by the guitar duo of Marek Napiórkowski and Artur Lesicki. The festival program offers diversity, from street concerts by the Dizzy Boyz Brass Band to international stars like Mike Verby and Peter Lipa. The festival, which began with Poland’s accession to the European Union in 2004, has attracted music icons over the years and serves as a platform for diverse cultural encounters. XXVI TPN Knowledge Contest

The XXVI edition of the Tatra National Park Knowledge Contest invites primary schools from Małopolska to participate in the event starting on May 9, 2024. Organized jointly with the School and Kindergarten Complex in Murzasichle and the Municipality of Poronin, the contest will focus on the theme of animals inhabiting the park. Participants, working in teams of two, will be tasked with demonstrating knowledge about TPN fauna, its characteristics, and the impact of tourism on animals. Preparations for the contest will begin with a lecture on April 16, 2024, at the TPN Environmental Education Center.
