9th Run for Breath in Zakopane – Let’s run together for those with Cystic Fibrosis!
On September 1, 2024, we invite you to Zakopane for the 9th Run for Breath – a charitable sporting event organized by the Polish Society for Fighting Cystic Fibrosis. This is a unique opportunity to combine a passion for sports with helping those in need. The 5-kilometer race route will lead through the picturesque corners of Zakopane, providing participants with not only a sporting challenge but also the chance to admire the beauty of the Tatra Mountains.
Everyone can participate in the run – both adults and children, regardless of fitness level. It is an event for the whole family, who can enjoy outdoor activities together. An additional attraction will be the opportunity to meet Justyna Kowalczyk-Tekieli, the world champion in cross-country skiing, who supports our initiative every year with her participation.
Each participant will receive a special starter pack, including sports shirts, commemorative medals, and race numbers with time-measuring chips. All proceeds from the run will be used to support people with cystic fibrosis across Poland. The race starts at 10:00 AM in Zakopane. An Evening at the Red Manor: “From the Mountains to the Sea” – Meeting with Dr. Maciej Krzeptowski
On September 2, 2024, at 6:00 PM, we warmly invite you to the Red Manor villa in Zakopane for a special meeting as part of the “Evening at the Red Manor” series. This time, the Zakopane Cultural Center and the Native Culture Center will host Dr. Maciej Krzeptowski – a marine biologist, museum curator, sailor, and author of books.
Dr. Krzeptowski, a graduate of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and a former employee of the National Museum in Szczecin, will talk about the fates of sea people coming from the mountains and share his experiences from scientific research expeditions. This is a unique opportunity to learn stories connecting the world of mountains and the sea and to hear about the incredible adventures of a researcher who passionately explores the depths of the waters.
The meeting will take place in the cozy interiors of the Red Manor at Kasprusie Street in Zakopane. The organizers warmly invite everyone interested – both residents of Zakopane and tourists.
September Meeting of the Book Discussion Club in Zakopane
We invite all literature lovers to the September meeting of the Book Discussion Club, which will be held on September 2, 2024, at 4:00 PM at the Mediateka Stacja Kultura Zakopane, in the Literary Café.
This time, we will be discussing the book “Wild Silence” by Raynor Winn. It is an excellent opportunity to share your impressions from the reading and discuss the extraordinary journey the author describes in her book. Siberian Deportees Day in Zakopane: Let’s Honor the Memory of the Siberian Deportees Together
On September 17, 2024, Zakopane will host the observance of the World Day of Siberian Deportees, commemorating the 83rd anniversary of the Russian invasion of Poland. It is a special day, full of reflection and remembrance of those who experienced the tragedy of exile to Siberia.
The ceremonies will begin at 10:00 AM with a Holy Mass for the Siberian deportees at the Old Church on Kościeliska Street. Then, the attendees will proceed to the Old Cemetery at Pęksowy Brzyzek, where flowers will be laid at the symbolic grave of the Siberian deportees. In this way, we will pay tribute to all those who perished and suffered in exile.
The program also includes an artistic part prepared by students and graduates of the O. Balzer High School in Zakopane. This special artistic setting, as every year, will enrich the celebration, connecting generations in memory of the difficult fates of the Siberian deportees.

MOC GÓR Festival: Jubilee Edition Full of Mountain Inspirations
On September 21-22, 2024, Zakopane will become a true center of mountain culture during the jubilee 20th edition of the Moc Gór Festival. This unique event will be held at the Sokół Cinema on Władysława Orkana Street 2 and will gather mountain enthusiasts from around the world, offering a rich program full of films, meetings, and workshops.
The festival will open with the International Film Competition, which will last throughout both days of the event. On Saturday, September 21, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, you will be able to see the best mountain films from around the world. In the evening, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, two meetings are planned on the stage of the “Sokół” cinema, where participants will have the opportunity to meet outstanding figures from the world of mountains – details about the guests and meeting topics will be announced soon!
On Sunday, September 22, the International Film Competition will continue from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by the announcement of the competition results at 2:00 PM. The festival will culminate with the decoration of the winners of the 17th ALPIN SPORT Tatra Uphill Run, which will take place at 2:30 PM.
During the Moc Gór Festival, the organizers have also prepared many activities for different age groups. The youngest participants will be able to take part in workshops on mountain safety and meetings where famous people will read books for children. Adults and youth can attend educational lectures and inspiring meetings with mountain people, while seniors can join workshops on physiotherapy and activities for older age.
