From December 1 to February 24

The Zakopane Art Fair 2018/2019.

Museums in Zakopane are always worth a visit. And in the winter scenery, the old villas look fabulous – in the picture Atma, museum of Polish composer, Karol Szymanowski

Presentation of works of art in the field of painting, graphics, sculpture and utility forms – combined with the possibility of buying them. We recommend it to collectors, but also people who want to bring as a souvenir from Podhale an original and unique object.

5, 12 and 19 December.

The next edition of workshops of Podhale art and handicraft. They are carried out by the City Council of Zakopane and the Zakopane Cultural Center – Galeria Czerwony Dwor as part of the project “Popularization of the Zakopane cultural heritage”. This time the workshop will be run by Jozef Fudala, the last creator of traditional paper flowers in Podhale.

Workshops last from 13-17. Language – Polish (however it is not necessary to know it to enjoy the workshops).

You will not find real oscypki during the winter, but these are great to. Try them with cranberry and take home some to use them with salads or wrap them in bacon and fry them in a pan.

December 8

The mayor of the city of Zakopane Leszek Dorula cordially invites you to the winter family festival – Zakopane’s St. Nicholas Day. This is the fourth edition of this the outdoor event for children, during which the youngest with their parents will be able to watch a specially prepared artistic program together and take part in numerous competitions, and above all meet with Santa Claus giving away presents.

The opening of the exhibition “Rhythms of nature” – works by Ewa Fortuna and Czesław Jalowiecki will again enrich the space of the popular artistic café in Zakopane. Tapestry, collages, and brass molds will be available until February 28, 2019.

December 13

Concert “Szymanowski /Nowowiejski – meetings”. The vocal Octava Ensemble will perform with guest appearance of Beata Pyda, who sings with the “white voice” and is a soloist of the Song and Dance Ensemble “Slask”. The program includes Kurpie songs by Karol Szymanowski and Polish carols and pastorals in the work of Feliks Nowowiejski. Concert will be enriched with the introductory word of Malgorzata Janicka-Slysz, curator of the concert program of Atma museum – in Polish, but definitely the music is worth to listen for everyone.

December 14

Start of the Christmas Market at the Gminny Osrodek Kultury (Communal Cultural Center) in Koscielisko, Nedzy Kubinca Street 76. The bazaar will last until December 20.

December 16

Vernissage of the exhibition of photographs by Kaja Osikowska-Tasz “Himalayas on a bike”. STRH Bistro Art Cafe, Krupowki Street 4a (third floor). Time: 18:00.

December 30

Christmas and New Year’s concert of Trebunie Tutki. Dom Ludowy in Koscielisko, Chotarz Street 453, Koscielisko, at 19.00. Traditionally, on this day, members of this team (probably the most famous in Poland and around the world highlander’s chapel) meet with residents and guests of Zakopane and the surrounding area to jointly sing Christmas carols. December 31.

New Year party. The organizers plan to participate up to 50,000 people. The names of the performers and the exact place of the event have not yet been officially announced. It will for sure take place within the city, and artists representing folk, pop and disco polo will appear on the stage.
